Give Thanks

It is official. The holiday season in upon us! I am a girl who loves every holiday, but I have to say that Thanksgiving Day is my favorite! Now, why in the world would Thanksgiving day be your favorite you ask? Well, I shall tell you.

Unlike other holidays, Thanksgiving is not about gift giving, it is just day to be thankful for the gifts you already have. You don't need a special someone in order to celebrate it with. You don't to be a Mom or Dad. It can be celebrated by everyone no matter what your religion. It is a day you don't have to worry about what you eat. In fact you are encouraged to enjoy your bounty! It is just a day about food, friendship and who doesn't love a Thanksgiving Day parade!

Thanksgiving Day is the only day, the entire year, I give myself permission to do nothing. It is a day I spend with just my husband, cooking, binge watching movies, eating, napping and if we are feeling frisky, hitting an early black Friday sale!

Life can sometimes seem unfair. Along the way, we will be presented with obstacles, loss and sadness. These times it can be hard to remember what we have to be thankful for. That is another reason I think Thanksgiving is the best holiday ever. It pops up as a reminder, to stop, even if just for one day and reflect on all that there is to be thankful for. Things like sunshine after days of rain. The smell of puppy breath. The laugh of a baby. A stranger holding the door while your hands are full of groceries. The first blooming flowers after a long winter. Bright red cardinals. Blue Robin eggs in a nest. Bubble baths. Your freedom.

I hope this Thanksgiving you take time to reflect and be thankful for all you enjoy. Things that may seem simple. But things that not everyone gets. Because there is always something to be thankful for. Always...

What all this comes down to for me, is that there is always a silver lining. We may have to look to find it.

I start creating for Christmas in October, yet it still seems to sneak up on me! I love Christmas! Of course I love all the things most people do about the season. The smells, the lights, the music and of course the Hallmark Christmas movies that all end the same, but I watch anyway!
